This is an exciting time for flux and Social Project. Just as our software and tools have evolved to allow publishers of all sizes to create communities for the passionate fans of their brands, so has our partnership with MTV Networks.

This week we are announcing that MTV Networks has acquired Social Project.

Together we have developed the vision for a broad, connected, social media distribution network that will allow publishers of all sizes to build an active and engaged fan base, and get their content in front of a large audience. We started with basic tools to provide publishers with social features for their sites, but we didn’t stop there. On top of our great social platform, which enables a high level of customization and scalability to support some of the most popular entertainment sites on the web, including MTV.com, Vh1.com, ComedyCentral.com, ColbertNation.com, and many others, we added the ability for users to take advantage of the cross-network capabilities of flux to discover new communities and content, and to quickly and easily share their identity across the many sites that fill their passions.

And this is just the beginning.  We’re currently developing exciting new features, which we can’t wait to show you, that will make it easier than ever for publishers of all sizes to build their brands, and get their content discovered. And we believe this is one of the biggest challenges of all. Whether you’re one of MTV Networks’ iconic brands or a great new talent redefining entertainment on the internet, you work hard at creating your content and programming. So we’re designing flux to work hard for you in getting your great content discovered and adored!

What does this mean for those of you who have built your sites in flux? It means more resources dedicated to making flux even better! MTV Networks is committed to keeping flux truly open and finding every way possible to enable your sites and audience to grow bigger than ever before.

As we said, this is just the beginning. Thank you for all who have joined and participated in one of our communities, or have built a community in flux. We are committed to making flux better every day - for all of you.

If you want, you can read the official press release.

Thank you all.
Joshua Dern
SVP & GM, MTVN Social Media

We couldn’t be happier to announce that Jakob Dylan and crew have brought their online community to the Flux platform. What started out as a simple site is now a fully interactive way for fans to stay up-to-date on the band.

Wallflowers Community Homepage

Discuss your favorite songs and concert videos, listen to the latest tunes or catch up on tour news all in one place!

One of the most exciting pieces of this launch is that fans can now connect with one another directly - easily sharing stories and videos from recent Wallflowers, and related, shows. There are already quite a few concert videos from fans - in addition to great official content direct from the band - we expect those collections to grow with every live performance.

Wallflowers Community Videopage

You can also get details about upcoming shows, and find out who else will be attending you might just meet a new friend.

As always, it’s easy to sign up for Flux members just one click and you’re in!

If you haven’t had the pleasure of discovering Happy Slip, the new community on Flux gives you the perfect place to start! This one-woman wonder writes, produces, and stars in a joy-filled video blog about the occasionally painful and often painfully funny moments in her life as a Filipina-American.

Happy Slip Screenshot

Happy Slip started out with a YouTube video channel and simple web site.  As traffic to Happy Slip increased and a community of fans emerged, Happy Slip wanted to bring more interactive features to her audience.

The Flux platform allowed her to integrate just the pieces that made sense: comments widgets for photos and videos, discussion boards, user uploads, and member registration.   Happyslip.com was able to swiftly increase her features and pages, while keeping their domain and content.  And, each Flux widget was integrated to fully match the look and feel of the original site.   Happy Slip uses a number of other new media services and it’s great to see the Flux elements in action side-by-side with these features.

Happy Slip frequently collaborates with KevJumba, another video-blogging phenomenon who’s found a home on the Flux platform.  This is great for fans because a single registration provides one-click membership in both communities not to mention all the other great communities on Flux.

Oh, and if you’re wondering where the name Happy Slip came from?  There’s a great story there too but you’ll have to visit Happyslip.com to find out.

Playa Rabbit is a hard-working rap artist, producing and promoting his own music for years out of Ft. Worth, TX. Online since 2005, Playa Rabbit recently created his own custom community on the Flux platform: PlayaRabbit.biz.

Flux’s Custom Community product gave Playa Rabbit an easy way to create, customize and launch a complete community for his fans. Our flexible platform let him integrate Meebo chat and custom merchandise modules, in addition to Flux community staples like video collections and discussion boards.

Since starting his community on Flux, Playa Rabbit has been able to get direct feedback from his listeners and keep his audience up-to-date on his latest music, shows, and news.

The Pussycat Dolls have a fabulous community powered by Flux, so it’s no surprise that GIRLICIOUS, the hot new reality show presented by the Dolls, has launched a new site with us as well.

You’ll find hot photos and the latest news, plus a fantastic video blog put together by show hosts Robin and Mikey. Each video answers a few of the questions posted to the site by viewers after every new episode.

As the season progresses, you’ll see discussion boards and more widgets added to Girlicious so stay tuned! Girlicious airs Monday nights at 9/8c, on the CW.

Jordan Farmar’s brand new community FarmarLive.com is red hot this week on Flux. His site brings fans the latest Lakers news and focused discussions on the sport, plus photos and video clips. We also like how Jordan took advantage of our flexible platform to drop in his NBA.com player widget.

Fresh content and new features are being added frequently, so take a look!
